Want to sign up?

To sign up simply need an e-mail valid and write a series of data needed to operate the website. There are three pages that ask you access data, who you are and where you are. On the last page we suggest some users at random, and have to prove that you're not a robot, putting two random words calculated.

Once you've completed all the steps, will receive an email in the account that you put on the registration process. In that e-mail you will see an activation link, it will activate your account in Picotea. There are email clients that can not properly load the link, so in the same e-mail, you have another way to confirm your high.

How does work the page that appears when I enter?

Once you have signed up Picotea, you can start to peck. You'll see a page with several parts. On the one hand, you have the sides. On the left side of the page you'll see three boxes, following, followers, and Cool. Both supporters in a row as your homepage, you take out a maximum of 15 randomly selected users.

Moreover, on the right side, you have your profile data, your groups and your events. Clicking on the word profile, you'll go to your profile. Clicking on your avatar on the right, you can access to your public page in Picotea.

There is also a top menu, where you have quick access to all functionalities of the website.

Finally, you have the form to peck at center, and you'll see below the list of your posts and people who you follow.

To familiarize yourself with the page, it's best to go with your mouse through all the links you see, all of them have a small contextual help tell you where you're headed. So you can go explore the site and learn how to use it.

I want to change my avatar (picture)

If you want to change your avatar, have to click on your profile box or the links from the top menu profile. Take you to your profile, where you'll see various tabs.

On the first tab, the profile, you have the option to change your avatar by the one you want. You'll see on this page, have option to add more locations, put hobbies, who're fan, Where have you studied and where you worked. Not required to enter this data, although they can be interesting for you to find other users who already know or be able to meet others related to you.

I want customize my Picotea

You can customize your Picotea. This customization will affect how you see your homepage, but also how users see your public page. In your profile, have the option to customize, where you will find four different possibilities of themes and you put a wallpaper in your page.

Who are owners of the posts that appear on your homepage?

The posts that come into your homepage are from users who you follow.

How can I follow to more users?

To follow more users you first have to find them. To find users to follow, you can do this in several ways.

Maybe you want to follow the people who is following you, in that case, clicking on your followers box, you can enter in their profile. From there, can follow by clicking on actions, or you can go to your public page, see what they have written and follow.

Certainly you want to search for users who want to follow. In that case, click on "Search" from the top menu. You will enter a page with four tabs, user, group, event and post. You can search for users by various data, but if you prefer to look for what they have said in their posts, click on the tab to search by posts. In any case, clicking on the corresponding user, you can follow him.

You may also want to follow your users who are in the same group as you. In that case, you will find all members of the group at the end of the posts, and clicking on their avatar, you will be able to follow them from their public page.

How do I respond to another user who has posted?

In every post, appear two icons, one for vote the post and the other to respond, when you click on reply, return to the peck box with the user's alias when you're replying inserted. Both posts will be linked.

How do I vote a post of another user?

In every post, appear two icons, one for vote the post and the other to respond, when you click on vote, you'll see that increasing the number of votes of the post, affecting the user picarma. You can not vote your own posts…

How do I invite my friends to Picotea?

Going to your profile, you'll see a tab to invite users. Putting e-mail address of the person you want to invite, will be sent an email with your invitation.

What is picarma?

The picarma is a simple system we have designed to measure the experience of each user. You can see it on the public page of each user, in the case of profile you can view your picarma.

What is the algorithm used to calculate the picarma?

The picarma is a scoring system that values the user experience on Picotea. Thus, each user accessing to a public user page, can see the experiencie of the user. The scoring system depends on what each user is doing in Picotea, being the valuation by each event:

• For sign up in the portal -> 5 points.
• Inviting another user to Picotea -> 1 point.
• User who you invited has signed up on Picotea -> 50 points.
• For each post posted -> 1 point.
• To follow another user -> 1 point.
• Other people follow you -> 10 points.
• For each vote received in your posts -> 2 points.
• For each repost that you receive -> 2 points.

Actions to reverse the previous events like stop following someone, eliminate a post or similar, will substract the corresponding picarma.

How do I look for a group or event?

To find a group or an event, click on the top menu, on the "Search", and later in the tab groups or events.

Enter the text you want to find.

Will search in the title of the group or event as in the description.

Can I invite other users to a group or an event?

Once you are a member of a group or event, you'll see a function to invite people. You click and will appear a dialogue with users who follow you, which are you can invite. Each of users selected by you will receive a message with your invitation to the group or event.

What posts I see in groups and events?

Within a group you see all the posts, follow or not users who posted them.

What are the differences between groups and events public, private and protected?

All users can join, peck and see posts in the public groups/events.

In the protected groups/events, everyone can see posts, but they must request for admission to an administrator to join.

In private groups, admission must also be approved by a group administrator, but only group members can see the posts made in a private group.

How do I create a group?

Going to your profile and clicking on the tab groups, you'll see a function to create a group. You can set the title, description, and the avatar of the group.

How do I create an event?

The events belong to groups.

You can create events if you are the administrator or creator of a group. To do this, have to access the group's profile by clicking on managing, in the profile, you'll see a function for creating the event.

Can I create a private or protected event for a public group?

Yes, it is independent. You can create public events to private groups, or private for public…, all combinations are possible.

How can I search a post?

Using the search function on top right, selecting the tab post, you will find the posts in which said something concrete.

How do I see the posts directed at me?

From your homepage, under the peck box, you'll see that you can see all or only posts directed at you.

How can I block a follower?

To block a follower you must do this from your profile. To get, you can do clicking on the box of followers or going to your profile and clicking on the tab of followers. You'll see that next to each user who follows you, have an option to block him. Blocking him, every time you peck, he will not see your peck on your home page.

How can I stop following an user?

If you want to stop following a user, have to go to your profile. You can do this in two ways, or clicking on a row or going to your profile and clicking on the tab of following. You'll see that next to each user that you follow, is an option to stop follow.

Can I send a private message to another user?

There is a private messaging module in Picotea accessed by clicking on "Messages" on the top menu. These messages will only be viewed by the user that receive the message. Anyway, if you want to send a private to a user but is still not following you, and has enabled the option to not receive private messages from followers, you can not send the message.

Can I change my login email to Picotea?

Yes, going to your profile you will find an option to change your e-mail access.

How do I change my password in Picotea?

In your profile, you will find a function to change your password.

I forgot my password, how can I re-enter Picotea?

In the Picotea login, find a link to if you forget your password. You will receive an e-mail with instructions to reset it.

How can I do not to receive messages from Picotea on my e-mail?

In your profile, personal data, there is an option to say where you want to receive notifications, if your external mail or private messaging Picotea.

I want only private messages of users who follow me, can I?

In your profile, personal data, there is an option to say yes you can send messages only to people who follow, or even your followers.
